The Announcement issued on the basis of Ordinance No. 21/2020 of the Rector of Lodz University of Technology of 9 March 2020 regarding specific measures related to the prevention, combat and counteraction of the SARS-CoV-2 virus at Lodz University of Technology.
I. In the period from 25 May 2020 to 30 September 2020 didactic classes, tests and exams of all forms and levels of study as well as doctoral studies conducted in TUL take place according to the following principles.
General principles:
1. Lectures, exercises, projects, seminars, language classes, PE classes and consultations take place only remotely, i.e. without the direct presence of students at the University premises. Complete elimination of laboratory classes at the University facilities is recommended.
2. For courses implemented in accordance with the study program in the summer semester 2019/20, it is allowed to take into account the remote mode of conducting classes and to change the conditions, form and procedure of completing the courses or their components (laboratories, exercises, etc.) accordingly to those specified in the syllabus and communicated to students by the course leader or lecturers at the beginning of the summer semester in accordance with the provisions of § 14 of the Study Regulations. The intention to introduce changes should be communicated to students concerned in advance, and any comments and reservations made by students about the technical possibilities of their participation should be considered.
3. The number of dates for tests and exams organized during the exam session cannot be less than that resulting from the provisions of the Study Regulations and should be adjusted to the number of groups and technical possibilities of tests and exams. The number of students being entitled to take tests and exams remains consistent with the number specified in the Study Regulations.
4. Detailed conditions for carrying out tests and examinations remotely will be formulated in a separate announcement of the Vice-Rector for Education.
5. From 1 June 2020, students may conduct scientific research at the University in order to complete their diploma theses. Such admission takes place at the written request of the student, after obtaining a positive opinion of the thesis supervisor and the consent of the head of the unit in which the research is carried out. The student may participate in conducting research provided that the conditions and safety principles set out for TUL employees are met. The thesis supervisor is responsible for organizing the research stand and ensuring student working conditions in accordance with the applicable safety rules.
6. From 1 June 2020, students engaged in research projects carried out by the University may conduct scientific research at the University. Such admission takes place at the student's written request, after obtaining the consent of the project manager and the consent of the head of the unit where the research is carried out. Student participation in conducting research may take place provided that the conditions and safety principles set out for TUL
employees are met. The project manager is responsible for organizing the research stand and ensuring student working conditions in accordance with applicable safety rules.
7. In the period from 25 May 2020 to 30 September 2020, diploma examinations are carried out in the direct mode at the University premises in compliance with the safety rules set out in the document entitled "Environmental guidelines in connection with partial restoration of the university activities" of 18 May 2020 (https://www.gov.pl/web/nauka/srodowiskowe-wytyczne-w-zwiazku-z-czesciow…) or, at the student's request, using methods and techniques of distance education in the mode specified in the current Announcement of the Vice-Rector for Education on the principles of organization of diploma examinations using methods and techniques of distance education.
8. The following schedule is determined:
25 May – 23 June 2020 – the period of classes
1. Laboratory classes during this period are conducted only remotely, making information, instructional and illustrative materials electronically available to students and checking the theoretical preparation of students and electronically submitted laboratory reports.
2. During this period, it is allowed to conduct the end of the semester tests and exams remotely. Such dates are not included in the number of organized dates resulting from the Study Regulations, but they are included in the number of admissions to the final tests and exams that a student is entitled to. The rules of organizing pre-exam session dates remain unchanged.
3. All forms of verification of learning outcomes (class works, tests, seminars, presentations and exams, etc.) carried out during this period take place only remotely, using electronic methods.
24 June – 12 July 2020 – period of the exam session
1. All forms of verification of learning outcomes (class works, tests, seminars, presentations, exams, etc.) carried out during this period take place only remotely, using electronic methods.
2. Pursuant to the Study Regulations, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, after seeking the opinion of the student government relevant for the field of study, not later than two weeks before the start of the examination session, announces the exam schedule in the examination session.
13 July – 30 August 2020 – summer holidays
1. It is permissible to conduct final tests and examinations remotely during this period only after an agreement has been reached with the students or doctoral students concerned. Such dates are not included in the number of organised dates provided for in the Study Regulations, but are included in the number of tests to be taken.
2. All forms of verification of learning outcomes (class works, tests, seminars, presentations, exams, etc.) carried out in this period take place only remotely, using electronic means.
31 August – 24 September 2020 – exam session
1. During this period, selected laboratory classes may take place at the premises of the University, provided that the organization of classes is adjusted to the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspector specified in the letter of May 12, 2020 (available at the address:https://www.gov.pl/web/nauka/zalecenia-dotyczace-zapewnienia-bezpieczen…). For full-time studies it is allowed to organize these classes also on Saturdays, provided that the dates of these classes are ensured also on working days.
2. All forms of verifying the learning outcomes of the summer semester courses (class works, tests, seminars, presentations and examinations, etc.) carried out during this period take place out only remotely, using electronic methods. In justified cases, with the consent of the Dean, it is allowed to conduct tests and exams for summer semester courses at the premises of the University during this period, provided that the organization of tests and exams is adjusted to the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspector and the Minister of National Education, specified for secondary school exams in 2020 (available at the address: https://www.gov.pl/web/edukacja/przygotowania-do-egzaminow-zewnetrznych…).
3. During this period, it is allowed to carry out final tests for all forms of courses and examinations in winter semester courses at the premises of the University, provided that the organization of tests and examinations is adjusted to the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspector and the Minister of National Education, specified for secondary school examinations in 2020 (available at the address: https://www.gov.pl/web/edukacja/przygotowania-do-egzaminow-zewnetrznych…). Tests and exams must be taken on the same terms and in the same form as in the winter session.
II. The Announcement enters into force on 21 May 2020.
